To design and create the garden that you want, I work through the following stages:

1 - Initial consultation and client brief

Once you have contacted me I will arrange an appointment to visit you in order to familiarise myself with your garden and discuss your requirements and ideas. I will show you a portfolio of the gardens I have designed and help you decide whether you want me to work with you on your garden.

During this meeting I will survey and photograph the site, and run through a simple questionnaire in order to establish what you like and dislike, what you want to use your garden for, and what particular features you might like to have included.

Following this, I will present you with a written client brief outlining the issues discussed and my ideas for the design of your garden, together with an estimate for the design work. Upon your agreement to this brief we will proceed to the design stage.
 

2 - The Layout Plan

Once you have confirmed your wish to proceed I will prepare a layout plan based upon the client brief. This will show the outline of the garden, the hard landscaping, the areas to be planted, and any features to be included. Accompanying construction notes will detail the materials, products and building specifications to be used.

3 - The Planting Plan

Either in conjunction with the layout plan, or once it has been approved, I will prepare a detailed planting plan for the garden showing the species of plants chosen and their positioning and spacing This will be accompanied by a plant schedule listing the plants and estimating their cost. All plants can be sourced and supplied at competitive prices from carefully selected nurseries.

Once the garden is built, I will have the plants delivered and lay them out according to the planting plan ready for the contractor to plant.

4 - Project management

I am available to oversee the implementation of the design from start to finish. 

If you decide upon this option I will invite landscape contractors to quote for the works to be carried out, and liaise between you and the chosen contractor throughout the construction process to ensure that the design is properly realised.
